On January 30, 2025, the world comes together to mark World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Day, a global initiative to shed light on diseases that continue to affect millions, particularly in low-income communities.
To raise awareness, several key events have been organized in Italy:
Lighting of the Mole Antonelliana in Turin – The iconic landmark will be illuminated in purple and orange, the colors symbolizing the fight against NTDs. Similar illuminations will take place at Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona and many other monuments worldwide. (See flyer)

Photo Exhibition "Forgotten Health: Images to Remember NTDs " – Verona – Hosted at the Chamber of Commerce of Verona (January 29-30) and later at the IRCCS Sacro Cuore Don Calabria in Negrar (February 10 – March 31), this exhibition aims to increase awareness through images that convey hope and resilience. Scientific Seminar on NTDs – Verona – On January 30, the IRCCS Sacro Cuore Don Calabria’s Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases will hold a seminar at the Chamber of Commerce of Verona, featuring national and international experts discussing progress towards WHO’s 2030 goals, control strategies, and the epidemiology of NTDs in Italy. NTD Day 2025 - Conference Program
The WHO Collaborating Centre ITA-116 that daily works to fight the NTDs caused by intestinal parasites, supports the World NTD Day and will participate at the Scientific Seminar in Verona where the professor Laura Rinaldi will give a presentation on drug treatments for NTDs.
